Moundsville Middle School Math teacher Bailey Nickerson and Washington Lands Elementary second-grade teacher Ashley Fecat have obtained a $1,000 West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) WV math4life Classroom Educator Grant.

The goal of the grant is to fund mathematics learning opportunities that are designed to promote student achievement and engagement, to implement innovative teaching strategies and to emphasize grade-level mathematics content.

The math4lifeclassroom educator grant program provides awards of up to $1,000 to be used to provide manipulatives, tools or technology to support mathematics activities and projects in the classroom. All pre-k through Grade 12 West Virginia public school educators who currently teach mathematics, including mathematics educators at CTE Centers, were eligible to apply for the math4life classroom educator grants.
