Students, faculty and staff at Washington Lands Elementary School concluded their fundraising efforts for the Make-A-Wish Foundation with a pie in the face celebration.

The way the pledge drive worked was that for every $5.00 a student brought in, a ticket with their name on it was put in the jar of the staff member they wanted to see pied. The top three teachers/principal to get the most tickets put in their jars got pied. Tickets were then pulled out of each person’s jar to see which student voted for them would be getting to pie them.

Fifth grade student teacher Samantha Fouty came in third and was pied by 5th grader Joziah Baker, music teacher Eli Lambie came in second and was pied by kindergarten student Brylee James and WLES Principal Julie Sturgill came in first place and was pied by forth grader Carson Sampson and by fifth grader Blake Yoho.

In total, $2,097 was collected for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This fundraiser is organized every year by Charlotte Steed whose son, Raymond, was granted a wish several years ago.
